What Ministers Need to Know
A minister is a minister.
A minister may be a spiritual healer but no minister is automatically a spiritual healer. Ministers must meet all of the requirements of a licensed spiritual healer or they cannot legally practice as a spiritual healer.
What you just read is the whole story. The rest of this article is simply further explanation.
Ministers can pray for themselves and others, teach others how to pray and help others pray. Ministers can anoint with water or oil and lay on hands. Ministers can read and interpret scripture. Ministers can teach others how to contemplate and meditate. Spiritual healers can also do these things.
Ministers can advise their congregation regarding spiritual matters, and perform the sacraments of their church. Spiritual healers who are not ordained as ministers cannot do these things.
Ministers who are also spiritual healers have far fewer problems with licensing boards if they practice spiritual healing as a licensed spiritual healer than they do if they practice spiritual healing as a minister. The problem is there are many more non-qualified people practicing as a minister than as a spiritual healer. The good news is licensed spiritual healers are presumed to be competent while ministers are not.
